Will a Massage Chair Fit? A Room and Delivery Measuring Worksheet

Blue Costway Immersion 63 massage chair in a styled living room; illustrative room setting

A massage chair needs to fit in three ways: through the delivery route, in its fully reclined position and alongside the way you use the room. This worksheet helps you collect the right information before ordering. Keep it on your phone and add photos of any tight spots.

Start with the exact model in our massage-chair collection. Record its full name and the date you checked the specifications. A measurement from a similar-looking chair is not a reliable substitute.

1. Draw the room as you actually use it

Sketch the walls, doors, windows and furniture on paper. Mark which way each door opens, where you normally walk and the power point you plan to use. Include side tables, curtains and other objects that could be close to the moving backrest or footrest.

Then mark the chair’s upright outline and its fully reclined outline. Removable floor tape can make this easier to picture, provided it is suitable for your floor finish. Walk around the marked area and try opening nearby doors before deciding where the chair will go.

  • Available room length: _____ cm
  • Available room width: _____ cm
  • Model’s upright length × width × height: _____
  • Model’s reclined length × width × height: _____
  • Specified clearance behind the chair: _____
  • Space for getting in, getting out and walking past: _____

Do not treat a small rear-clearance figure as the whole room requirement. Costway’s room-fit guide makes a useful distinction between a chair’s upright size and its operating footprint. Check the front, sides and moving parts separately against the exact model’s instructions.

2. Follow the route from the delivery point

Walk the route the chair would take. Write down the narrowest clear opening at each stage, including gates, building entrances, lifts, corridors and the final room door. Measure the usable opening with the door open, accounting for handles and other obstructions.

  • Gate or building entrance: _____
  • Lift door and internal lift dimensions, if applicable: _____
  • Narrowest corridor and tightest turn: _____
  • Stairs and landing dimensions, if applicable: _____
  • Final room doorway: _____
  • Delivery booking, parking or building-access restrictions: _____

A doorway width alone cannot establish that a large carton will negotiate a corner. Take photos from both directions at tight turns. Ask the delivery team to assess uncertain access rather than assuming the chair can be tilted, unpacked outside or dismantled.

3. Worked example: Therapy 36

The current Therapy 36 product page lists these measurements, checked on 2 October 2026:

  • Upright: 154 × 74 × 118.5 cm
  • Reclined: 182 × 74 × 87 cm
  • Packed: 165 × 79 × 96.5 cm
  • Clearance behind the chair: 7.1 cm
  • Listed minimum doorway size: 79 cm

For your sketch, the reclined length is 28 cm greater than the upright length. Keep the 7.1 cm rear clearance as a separate requirement and allow access around the chair. The 79 cm listed doorway figure is a starting check, not a guarantee for a route containing turns, stairs or obstructions. Confirm measurements for the supplied model before purchase.

4. Confirm the service as well as the size

Ask what the quoted delivery includes: the delivery point, stairs, inside placement, positioning, assembly where relevant and packaging removal. Record any additional charges and access conditions before placing your order. Do not assume these services are included because the chair fits the room.

Your final note should have three headings: measured, confirmed by the delivery team and still unresolved. Any unanswered access question belongs in the last section until you have a clear answer.

Contact Relaxway with the model name, postcode, measurements and access photos for help planning the next step. For broader shopping considerations, read our pre-purchase checklist.

This is a planning worksheet, not a delivery-access certification. The model’s current instructions and the agreed delivery service determine the requirements for your order.
